Book club notes
Thank you for selecting one of my novels for your book club discussion. These three novels all explore the experience of women in the prime of life - fifty onwards. I’ve tried to provide a contrast to the negative stereotyping of older women by creating characters who reflect the women I see around me; women living interesting, challenging lives and dealing with a range of personal, professional, social and emotional issues.
I also wanted to portray mid-life as time of change and challenge and not as the point at which everything starts to go downhill. The other important theme in the books is women’s friendship, something that has been a very precious element in my own life for the last two decades.
